About Dark Agent Factory
Dark Agent Factory is the AI-native software brand of Woodstock Software LLC, founded by James Williams — a software engineer and architect based in Phoenix, Arizona.
The name comes from manufacturing: a “dark factory” is a facility so automated it runs with the lights off. In software, we're building toward the same vision — production lines where AI agents handle the engineering work, and humans focus on direction, quality, and client relationships.
We started in EdTech with AdaptiveTest — a K-12 adaptive testing platform with AI-powered question generation and personalized learning recommendations. Then we kept shipping: DAF Directory (an AI agent tools directory), DAF Benchmark (GitHub repo AI-readiness scoring), DAF Academy (AI-powered developer learning), and AdaptiveTest Skills (developer AI proficiency assessments). Five products live in production, all built by one engineer with AI agents.
Dark Agent Factory is the production capability itself — the processes, tools, and AI agent workflows that let one engineer ship at the pace of a full team. The products prove the thesis.
We're currently at Level 3 of the Five Levels of AI Production: AI agents build features, the engineer reviews and directs. We're working publicly toward Level 5 — the fully autonomous dark factory. We share our progress, our numbers, and our lessons learned because we believe transparency builds trust.
“We're building toward a future where one person with the right AI agents can ship what used to take a team of ten. Not by cutting corners — by building better production lines.”
